All That Glitters Is Goldberg

The piano prodigy kicks off Downtown NYC JazzFest at Roxy Bar.

Rising star jazz pianist Brandon Goldberg kicks off the Roxy Bar Stage for the inaugural Downtown NYC JazzFest on Wednesday April 22.

Goldberg, who has been playing piano and making music since he was three years old, was just announced as one of Five Finalists in the 2027 American Piano Awards. He’ll lead a trio on the Emerging Talent Stage at the Roxy Bar starting at 7:30 PM.

DownBeat Magazine praised Goldberg’s “unassailable technique, advanced harmonic understanding, a deep sense of swing and, most impressively, a clarity and plethora of ideas executed to near-perfection.” He’s performed at renowned jazz festivals worldwide, and graced the stages of prestigious jazz clubs in the US and abroad.

At a young age, Goldberg appeared on national television in Seasons 1 and 2 of NBC’s Little Big ShotsThe Steve Harvey Show and The Harry Connick, Jr. Show. His 2024 album “Brandon Goldberg Trio: Live at Dizzy’s” has been described as a “prodigious work, wrapped in tradition and steered with refreshing contemporaneity.” He regularly collaborates with iconic producer David Foster, most recently at the Hollywood Bowl alongside trumpeter Chris Botti, and with vocalist Katharine McPhee on Good Morning America.

Goldberg is a 2024 YoungArts Winner with Distinction, the youngest semifinalist in the 2023 Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Piano Competition and youngest recipient of the 2022 ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award. Famed pianist Bill Charlap recently said of him, “He immediately understands the concepts you tell him. You can hear he’s thought about it and is making more deeply informed decisions. I think he’s in a constant state of reassessment and growth and basically the joy of the process, which our life’s work is all about.”

Don’t miss Brandon Goldberg at Roxy Bar on Wednesday, April 22 as he kicks off the inaugural Downtown NYC JazzFest.
