Ciao, Simona

Italian jazz chanteuse Simona Daniele joins us for Downtown NYC JazzFest.

Italian jazz singer on the rise Simona Daniele has carved-out a remarkable musical path for herself, one which took her from the musical traditions of her homeland to the bustling jazz scene of New York City. Daniele earned Master’s degrees both in jazz voice from the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, and in jazz performance from the City College of New York where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar. Her sound marries technical mastery with heartfelt emotion, with her warm tone and expressive phrasing also taking cues from rhythmic influences from around the world.

Daniele’s career has taken her to celebrated venues on both sides of the Atlantic, building her reputation as a dynamic and engaging live performer. The adventurous vocalist salutes the songs of the Great American Songbook with a deft sense of swing and a keen awareness of jazz both past and present. Legendary jazz pianist Richie Beirach said Daniele “has unusually mature musical skills, as well a wonderful ability to really hear chord changes and improvise effortlessly over them.” And veteran jazz pianist and sought-after accompanist Ray Gallon agreed, saying “everything she does is heartfelt and soulful.”

Daniele is also a talented educator, committed to strengthening  connections between jazz communities in Italy and the United States. Her work often blends jazz standards with songs from her homeland, challenging listeners to experience jazz as a living art form. Whether she’s leading jam sessions, collaborating with international musicians, or mentoring emerging artists, Simona Daniele continues to be an artist to watch (and listen to)!

Come see Simona at Roxy Bar as she closes out the inaugural Downtown NYC JazzFest on April 26th. Showtimes at 4:30PM and 6PM. RESERVE HERE.
